What is the Prerequisite for Sobriety?Nowadays, most people think only of themselves. They want things done their way and in their time. Even some of the world’s most successful people try to promote why we should put ourselves first and be proud of ourselves and our achievements.

We should be grateful for the talents, skills, and gifts God has given us. There’s nothing wrong with this type of pride, but the kind of pride in which we become self-focused and self-elevating is wrong. Pride won’t help us in recovery. Instead, what we need most of all is humility.

Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defines humility as “freedom from pride or arrogance: the quality or state of being humble.”

    1. Open our hearts to God’s power to free us from the grip of unhealthy sexual behaviors.
      Acknowledge you are powerless—realize God can accomplish what you can’t. “What is impossible for people is possible with God” (Luke 18:27).
    2. Allow God to restore our sexual sanity.
